User guide
A practical walkthrough for settings, profile and portfolio, resume generators, job analysis, Upwork bids, and more.
Create an account, sign in, then complete Settings and Profile before generating resumes or bids. AI features need an OpenAI API key — use your own key, or try the shared trial key for up to 5 AI generations.
Settings control AI access (your key or trial), appearance, and resume PDF templates.
Add your key in Workspace → Settings. It is stored on your account and used for resume generation, job analysis, cover letters, imagined resumes, Upwork bids, and related AI tools.
Open SettingsNew users can enable the admin-provided trial key for up to 5 AI generations (resumes, bids, cover letters, advisor, and more). After that, add your own OpenAI key in Settings. When you generate without a key, a prompt offers Settings or trial.
Try trial in SettingsSwitch light or dark mode. Your choice is saved for this workspace.
Browse and select a resume HTML/PDF template. Preview templates before choosing. Generated PDFs use the template you selected here.
Your profile is the source of truth for main resumes, job-tailored PDFs, imagined resumes (when grounding in real employers), and Upwork bids.
In Workspace → Profile, keep personal info current: name, contact, links (LinkedIn, GitHub, portfolio), education, languages, summary, rate preferences, and timezone. Add every employer with company name, URL, dates, role, skills, and detailed experience text.
Open ProfileUse Update portfolio to publish a public profile page. After publishing, open the public profile link to share with clients or recruiters. Re-run Update portfolio after major profile changes.
Main resumes are built only from your registered profile — no invented companies or fictional experience.
Tip: richer experience text in Profile produces stronger main-resume bullets. Main mode does not invent projects or metrics.
Open Main ResumesImagined resumes portray a target job title. AI may adapt your experience, combine it with your requirements text, follow new companies you list in requirements, or invent activity when a named company has little detail.
Unlike main resumes, imagined resumes are role-targeted and can invent experience when needed. Keep identity details from your profile; use requirements to steer employers and emphasis.
Open Imagined ResumesTrack applications and generate job-specific resume PDFs, cover text, and advisor answers from a saved job post.
Paste the full job description for better analysis and PDF tailoring. Keep job status updated so Overview stats stay useful.
Open JobsDraft factual Upwork proposals grounded in your profile and the job post, including screening questions.
Include screening questions verbatim so answers can be written in Q&A form. Keep the bid human, specific, and aligned with your real experience.
Open Upwork BidsSave reusable interview and application answers. Search your knowledge base; optionally enable AI re-ranking / auto-tags when OpenAI is configured.
Open Quick Q&ARegister job boards and sources you use (LinkedIn, company career pages, etc.), then attach them to Jobs for cleaner tracking.
Open JobsitesUsually no OpenAI key is available — add yours in Settings, or enable the trial key (up to 5 AI generations) if offered. Keys can also be invalid or rate-limited. Long generations need a stable connection (WebSocket preferred).
Main = profile-only, truthful career document. Imagined = target-role narrative that may adapt or invent experience based on your requirements.
Optional but recommended. Publishing creates a public profile link you can share alongside resumes and Upwork proposals.
An admin-provided OpenAI key you can enable in Settings (or from the generate prompt). Each account may run up to 5 AI generations with it. After that, register your own key in Workspace Settings.
Start with Settings (your key or trial) and Profile, then generate your first resume.
